Key officials from Central Philippines State University participated in the recent 19th Assessor Training Workshop for the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Programme Assessment held in Malaysia.
CPSU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Grenny I. Jungco and Graduate School Dean, Prof. Riza Stephanie A. Alfaras, joined professors from various Southeast Asian Universities in the workshop hosted by Aun-QA in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Assessor Training Workshop—also referred to as a Tier-2 training in the AUN-QA system—featured hands-on learning experiences including live assessment process observations, site assessments, etc. designed to provide participants with authentic programme assessment practice experiences.
Associate Professor Dr Tan Kay Chuan from the National University of Singapore led AUN-QA’s coaching team as the lead coach and lead assessor of the Bachelor of English Language and Linguistics.
Working alongside Dr. Tan were Associate Professor Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang from Chulalongkorn University, University Fellow Dr. Rosemary R. Seva from De La Salle University, and Senior Assistant Professor Dr. Haji Sharul Tazrajiman bin Haji Tajuddin from Universiti Teknologi Brunei, acting as lead assessors for the Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Sustainability Science, and Master of Media Studies programmes, respectively.
The Tier-2 Training sessions were hosted by AUN-QA at Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel from July 17-19, and in the 𝑈𝑛𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑖 𝑀𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑎 from July 21-23.
It can be recalled that Vice President Jungco and Professor Alfaras joined the AUN-QA Tier 1 training last year in Bangkok, Thailand which also paved the way for CPSU’s AUN-QA associate membership, which was officially announced on January 31, 2025, alongside 22 other new university memberships across Southeast Asia.
CPSU’s continuous investment in AUN-QA trainings and memberships embodies its commitment to steadfastly improve its quality assurance standards at par or exceeding international standards to serve its clientele with confidence and efficiency.
Established in 1998, the AUN-QA System is an internationally recognized and robust quality assurance framework that promotes simultaneous and collective development toward successful regional higher education advancement.
