The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI) conducted a lecture series on modern agricultural technologies and soil research for university personnel at Central Philippines State University (CPSU).
Experts from DOST-PNRI shared their subject matter expertise in three lectures, namely, โIsotopic (ฮดยนยณC) Evidence for Land-Use-Driven Shifts in Soil Organic Carbon Accumulation and Mean Residence Timeโ by Dr. Roland V. Rallos (Project Leader โ Senior Science Research Specialist), โMulti-elemental and Stable Isotopic Characterization of Soil in Selected Mango-Producing Regions in the Philippinesโ by Ms. Nerrisa P. Bacera (Project Staff โ Science Research Analyst), and โPortable Spectroscopy for Smarter Agricultureโ by Ms. Lorraine S. Lao (Project Staff โ CIP Fellow).
Doctor Rallos from the Soil Science and Plant Nutrition Laboratories of DOST-PNRIโs Agriculture Research Section introduced the Integrated Rapid Ionomics and Predictive Modeling for Smarter Nutrient Management in Sugarcane, or iCanePredict, which utilizes a more strategic and sustainable approach to diagnosing problems and administering solutions in soil health management.
The subject matter experts discussed the implications of their studies in addressing existing or emerging concerns in the field of agriculture, and they also entertained queries and other points of clarification from the audience.
Cenphilians, including students and personnel, attended as the audience for the lecture series held at the Main Campus Accreditation Center last April 29, 2026, which was organized in partnership with DOST-PNRI, in close coordination with Dr. Maryvic P. Pedrosa, Program Head of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA), and with the support of College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) Dean Dr. Hanzel L. Pedrosa.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Grenny I. Jungco and Vice President for Administration and Finance Engr. Marc Alexei Caesar B. Badajos were also present, showing support in the activity, which contributes to the realization of CPSUโs vision of being a leading technology-driven university.
