Seven thousand seven hundred (7,700) trees were transplanted by the Philippine Red Cross – Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter, in partnership with Central Philippines State University (CPSU), under the Luntian 143 Tree Planting Activity.

Seven thousand (7000) trees were transplanted last August 29, 2026, in the reforestation site in Tagukon, Kabankalan City, where 279 participants convened in the common goal of restoring and enhancing forest cover within identified areas of the CPSU reservation.

The tree-growing activity was conducted across four identified forest restoration sites: Project TANOM in Tagukon, Kabankalan City; Legacy Park 6, located near the NOAC Elementary School; Legacy Park 1, adjacent to the firing range; and Legacy Park 2, situated within the Spiritual and Wellness Park.

Meanwhile seven hundred (700) trees were transplanted in Bago City by Philippine Red Cross personnel and volunteers.

The university’s Natural Resources and Environmental Management Services (NREMS) Director, Mr. Gregorio D. Predo, spoke on behalf of CPSU and briefed the volunteers and participants before the engagement.

The reforestation site was awash in red as participants in matching shirts fanned out to transplant seedlings prepared by CPSU-NREMS, each making a tangible contribution to the nationwide Luntian 143 Tree Planting Activity.

This achievement is the fruition of CPSU’s steadfast commitment to building and fostering partnerships that bring forth impactful initiatives to safeguard the environment and foster the rehabilitation of vulnerable areas.

On its official Facebook page, the Philippine Red Cross – Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter acknowledged the private and public institutional project partners and supporters, also expressing gratitude to the generous sponsors who shared their resources to provide participants and volunteers with food and refreshments.

CPSU, spearheaded by its NREMS Office, promotes reforestation by deliberately transplanting native tree species that preserve the natural ecological balance of each site and encourage the return of local wildlife.

Joining the Philippine Red Cross and youth volunteers were personnel from the Production and Enterprise Development Office, faculty and personnel of the College of Agriculture and Forestry, Forestry Department students, and farmer-partners from the Camingawan-Tagukon Farmers’ Association, all contributing to the collective regreening efforts.

On behalf of University President Dr. Aladino C. Moraca and alongside Dr. Predo, CAF Dean Dr. Hanzel L. Pedrosa and PEDO Director Dr. Maryvic L. Pedrosa actively supported the collaborative project, together with Philippine Red Cross–Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter Administrator Ms. Rita Benita Mirasol.
