In the convergence of distinguished higher education figures and other academic dignitaries in the celebration of the 59th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Central Philippines State University (CPSU) unveils its journey to the global limelight.
Delivering the presentation “Igniting Global Excellence: The Passion, Perseverance, and Pride Behind CPSU’s Journey to the World” as an invited speaker, CPSU-International Affairs and Linkages Office Director Dr. Joe-an Mae G. Escober shared what the university, nestled at the foot of the Southern Negrense mountain ranges, offers to the world.
The presentation was delivered by Doctor Escober during the 59th ASEAN Founding Anniversary Celebration in the Negros Island Region with the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” organized by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XVIII-Negros Occidental in partnership with and also held at the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City.
Doctor Escober highlighted the life-changing technologies that the university champions by extending them to the local communities to uplift the quality of life of underserved individuals and families by providing innovations that serve as alternatives when conventional services could not reach the said communities.
She also highlighted that, as a state university, CPSU is geared towards helping farmers improve their farming activities and boost agricultural productivity by empowering partner farmer associations through training. In addition, she highlighted how the university is oriented in championing agro-ecology, environmental protection, and natural resources conservation in transforming communities by partnering with them to contribute to national food security, address climate change, and promote sustainable rural development for the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
CPSU has been placed within the 801st-1000th in the Overall Global Rank of the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026, ranking 25th in the entire country and 1st in NIR; it also ranked 74th worldwide at the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026 Global Top 500 Innovative Universities, ranking 10th in the Philippines and 1st in the Negros Island Region (NIR).
