The Pre-Service Teacher Training 2026 sends off the newest batch of Cenphilian Pre-Service Teachers from Central Philippines State University (CPSU)-Main Campus College of Teacher Education (COTED) to their Field Study (FS) and Internship journeys.

 Featuring the theme “Empowering Pre-Service Teachers for Transforming, Inclusive, and Future-Ready Education”, the training provided an avenue for pre-service teachers to meet distinguished resource speakers from the Department of Education.

 Dr. Xyvette V. Ganza, Curriculum Division of Kabankalan City-Chief Education Supervisor; Ma’am Glenda G. Cadelina, Department of Education (DepEd) Officer-in-Charge – Education Program Supervisor; and Ma’am Nelfa C. Bolhano, Pantao Elementary School Mabinay II-Principal 1, discussed “Teaching Internship in the DepEd Setting: Policies, Standards, and Professional Expectations”, “The Major Philippine Educational Laws, Policies, and Standards that Guide Instructional Strategies and Classroom Practices”, and “Teaching Internship as a Pathway to Professional Development and Teacher Identity Formation,” respectively.

 The resource speakers engaged in an interactive and productive open forum, responding to questions posed by the pre-service teachers regarding their deployment and other relevant and timely concerns in conducting themselves and dealing with their cooperating school’s primary clientele.

 Dr. Willie L. Lacida, Jr., COTED’s FS Coordinator, oriented the students with the dos and don’ts in the conduct of being immersed in their cooperating schools, in observing school culture and the learning environment firsthand, in underlining how their cooperating teachers apply their content, pedagogical, and technical knowledge in their practice, and in closely seeing how learners perform in a classroom setting in response to various stimuli and the learning environment.

 Dr. Grenny I. Jungco, CPSU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the welcome address before the teacher aspirants and said, “As future educators, it’s not merely preparing students to pass examinations; we are also preparing them to become responsible citizens, ethical leaders, lifelong learners, and compassionate human beings. This is the true essence of transformative education. I would like to share the words of Henry Brooks Adams: ‘A teacher affects eternity. He can never tell where his influence stops.’ Indeed, the seeds that you plant in the hearts and minds of your future learners will continue to bear fruit, long after they leave their classroom…I encourage each one of you to uphold the values of academic excellence, integrity, inclusivity, education, and service. Let these principles guide you.”

 The training was organized by the COTED faculty, headed by College Dean Dr. Merfe C. Hucalinas (Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino), with Dr. Lacida and the COTED Program Heads, namely, Professor Eleanor F. Castro, PhD (Bachelor of Physical Education); Dr. Dennis D. Bilocura (Bachelor of Early Childhood Education); Dr. Marjon C. Malacapay (Bachelor of Elementary Education); Ma’am Johaida S. Oquias (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science); Ma’am Sarah M. Villaluz (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English); and Sir Frank Anthony Y. Bullag (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics).

 The training was enriched by training-workshop activities with the active participation of the pre-service teachers divided among seven COTED undergraduate programs accordingly, and it was concluded with the conferment of certificates to the attendees.
