Project TANOM was officially launched and unveiled by Central Philippines State University (CPSU), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental (PGNO), under the provincial flagship initiative Project TANOM: Aksyon, Negros Occidental on Mission for Ecosystem Conservation, on December 16, 2025.

The activity was led by Negros Occidental Governor Hon. Eugenio Jose โ€œBongโ€ V. Lacson, representing the Provincial Government, together with key CPSU officials, during the ceremonial planting of indigenous tree species at the six-hectare Project TANOM site located within the universityโ€™s land reservation.

Project TANOM is a 50-year partnership agreement between PGNO and CPSU and renewable for another 50 years covering the designated project site in Barangay Tagukon. The initiative aims to establish a Botanical Garden and Conservation Complex, alongside a reforestation area intended for capitol employees, co-managed by both institutions.

Project TANOM is the flagship initiative of the Provincial Government aimed at promoting tree growing, forest and landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience, implemented in close partnership with Local Government Units and other academic and institutional stakeholders.

Under the project, CPSU allocated the six-hectare area to serve as a dedicated platform for: (1) leading research initiatives, biodiversity monitoring, and the conduct of technical and scientific studies; (2) mobilizing faculty, students, and partner communities in collaborative conservation and development efforts; and (3) supporting academic instruction, research activities, and extension programs aligned with the Universityโ€™s mandate.
