To create visionaries who could lead the university to ride the constantly changing tide of times, Central Philippines State University (CPSU), in collaboration with PhilFutures, conducted the University Future Masterclass Training and Workshop 2024.
The three-day event was held at Zaycoland Resort and Hotel in Kabankalan City from October 21 to 23, 2024, with 60 participating office heads, research coordinators, program heads, campus administrators, and faculty researchers from CPSU campuses and extension classes.
Legislators from the Senate of the Philippines, Hon. Pia S. Cayetano and Hon. Sherwin T. Gatchalian, and CPSU President, Dr. Aladino C. Moraca delivered their respective inspirational messages for the attendees, while the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - Director for Strategic Partnership and Networking, Mr. Emmanuel De Guia, imparted thought-provoking statements to set the tone for the event.
The Senate of the Philippines sponsored the event through Senator Pia S. Cayetano, aiming to bolster future-oriented thinking and foresight in the academe.
The objectives for the masterclass are for the CPSU personnel to ignite visionary thinking, sharpen strategic focus, anticipate future landscapes, craft strategic scenarios, and translate vision into actionโbecoming potential key players in helping the university navigate future educational trends, recognize potential opportunities, and realize the universityโs vision into reality.
Teaching and non-teaching personnel, including university officials, were engaged in completing modules throughout the workshop and were given the chance to consult with PhilFutures subject matter experts for deepening and clarifications.
The Modules utilized were titled (1) Foresight and Futures Thinking: A Briefer and Refining the Focal Agenda for Higher Education; (2) Scanning the Landscape and Navigating New Horizons; (3) Blueprints of the Future through Scenario Development; (4) Moonshot Thinking for Transformative University Futures; and (5) Vision to Reality: Architecting the University Futures Project Proposal.
Alongside Dr. De Guia, Dr. Michville A. Rivera, Dr. Ma. Oliva Z. Domingo, Dr. Reginald G. Ugaddan, Dr. Ruperto S. Sangalang, and Ms. Jalaine Joyce Malabanan constituted the team of subject matter experts who shared their expertise to enrich the learning experience in the masterclass.
The University Future Masterclass Training and Workshop materialized with the joint efforts of the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Office of the Research and Development Services, the Office for Training Services, and the Quality Assurance Office.
