With empowerment and self-sufficiency as goals, Department of Science and Technology - Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (DOST - CEST) and Central Philippines State University (CPSU) brought the Pandayan ng Bayan program to the Gil Montilla Small Water Irrigation System Association (GMSWISA).
The agencies conducted the turnover ceremony last June 19 in Sipalay City, where the said farmersโ association is based, with the presence and support of Negros Occidental Sixth District Hon. Congresswoman Mercedes โChedingโ K. Alvarez.
CPSU President Dr. Aladino C. Moraca encouraged the members of the farmersโ association to make use of the donated tools and pieces of equipment in starting income-generating projects while RU Foundry Chief-Executive-Officer Mr. Ramon Uy Sr emphasized his desire to train the recipients in creating and repairing agricultural tools for them to utilize the package effectively.
