The Central Philippines State University (CPSU) mace finally touched down on the southern Negrense soil at the eighth installment of the Cenphilian graduation rites series, 2026.

Four (4) Magna Cum Laude and four (4) Cum Laude distinctions were conferred to outstanding academic performers during the ceremony held on May 20, 2026, at Zaycoland Resort and Hotel, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

With proud smiles and joyful tears, fifty-five (55) graduands wearing their academic regalia marched with their parents and guardians in the 21st Commencement Exercises of Central Philippines State University (CPSU) โ€“ Ilog Campus.

โ€œPhilippians 4:13 says, โ€˜I can do all things through Christ whose strength is in me.โ€™ This verse reminds us that no matter how difficult the journey becomes, we are never alone. Through every challenge, every doubt, and every moment of uncertainty, it is God who gives us the strength to keep us going and to rise above what we thought we would not overcomeโ€ฆ There were times of doubt, exhaustion, and uncertainty, yet you chose to persevere and continue moving forward. Each of us may have walked different paths, carried different burdens, and faced unique struggles, but today we are united by one achieved momentary success. This is a testament to our resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to reach our goals, and it reminds us that no matter how difficult the journey is or was, it was purely worth it. Despite all these experiences, one thing became clear to me. We would never reach this moment alone. I would like today to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to everyone who has been part of this journey,โ€ said Christine A. Alonte, Magna Cum Laude and Highest Academic Honor Awardee, in her commencement address.

On behalf of Negros Occidental Sixth District Representative Hon. Congresswoman Mercedes "Cheding" K. Alvarez, Negros Occidental Sixth District Board Member Hon. Genaro โ€œRalphโ€ G. Alvarez IV delivered the commencement speech for the graduating class of 2026.

โ€œPlease remember this: you do not need to become viral to become valuable. One day, people will care less about your followers and more about your character. People will care more about whether you are dependable, honest, hardworking, and kind. So, build a life. Not just an online image, but friendships that last. Build skills that matter. Build values that friends can embrace. And never lose your humanity. Because in a world becoming increasingly artificial, kindness becomes rare. Authenticity becomes powerful. Compassion becomes leadership. Be ambitious. Dream big. Earn well. Travel if you can. Help your families. But never become so focused on success that you forget to care for people, because true success is not only what you achieve. It is also about who you become along the way,โ€ said Hon. Mercedes Alvarez, through Hon. Ralph Alvarez.

โ€œโ€ฆto lead my profession with intelligence, compassion, and integrity," as the Department of Agriculture-Negros Island Region's Planning and Monitoring Division Chief Sir Patrick C. Sta. Romana led the recitation of the alumni pledge.

โ€œBy virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the Board of Regents of Central Philippine State University and after complying with all the requirements set forth by the Commission on Higher Education, I now confirm you as graduates. Congratulations,โ€ said Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, University President, officially declaring the 55 graduands as graduates, presented by Campus Administrator, Dr. Rhoda A. Aguilos.

Fifteen (15) Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, thirty-one (31) Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, and nine (9) Bachelor of Elementary Education graduates received their diplomas as conferred by President Moraca, Honorable Alvarez, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Grenny I. Jungco, and College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) Dean Dr. Hanzel L. Pedrosa, and presented by Campus Registrar Dr. Merlindro P. Vargas.
