Twenty-eight farmers from the Camingawan Rainfed Rice Cluster Farmers Association (CARRCFA) graduated from the Farmers’ Field School of Central Philippines State University (CPSU) last February 13, 2024, after finishing the sixteen-week program.

Facilitated by the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) and the Production and Enterprise Development Office (PEDO), the 9th FFS Graduation was held at CPSU Main Campus’ Mt. Ballo Hall, with the presence of Kabankalan City Vice Mayor, Hon. Miguel M. Zayco.

The FFS graduates were the pioneer batch for the program’s organic rice production training.
“I would like to thank CPSU President, Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, for his genuine support in this initiative and for inspiring us to rear a more equipped batch of unsung heroes, our farmers, with more knowledge, particularly on organic rice production. This batch’s Farmers’ Field School program specifically requested organic rice production training because this is best suited to their association’s needs. We from Central Philippines State University (CPSU) desire to empower our farmers by the inculcation of research-based knowledge through our community extension efforts. We hope that the partnership between CPSU and CARRCFA as well as the utilization of the practices that we shared will continue even after today’s commencement ceremony,” expressed Dr. Maryvic P. Pedrosa.

The invocation and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem were followed by the opening remarks and the presentation of the graduates by PEDO Director Dr. Maryvic P. Pedrosa, and the proclamation of graduates by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Fernando D. Abello.

“We are elated that we were able to train the ninth batch of Farmers’ Field School. We are also anticipating the tenth batch to finish the program soon. I am thankful to all who are part of this initiative, especially to you, CARRCFA farmers because your participation is essential to the program’s success. I encourage you to impart what you learned to your fellow farmers and I hope that your learnings will be stepping stones to relevant fruition,” said CAF Dean Dr. Hanzel L. Pedrosa.

CARRCFA Chairman Roland Quimpo gave his testimony and was succeeded by an inspirational message from Dr. Hanzel L. Pedrosa, and the distribution of certificates to the graduates by Hon. Miguel M. Zayco, Dr. Abello, and Barangay Camingawan Councilor Alan Posadas.
