One thousand tree seedlings were transplanted by the Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter and Kabankalan Branch, in partnership with Central Philippines State University (CPSU), to promote environmental stewardship and community resilience through sustainability-oriented projects.

 CPSU’s Extension and Community Services Office (ECSO), College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), Natural Resources and Environmental Management Services (NREMS), and the College of Agriculture and Forestry Federated Association (CAFFO), with the Philippine Red Cross, joined in regreening one of the university’s identified reforestation sites, joining in a shared environmental conservation effort.

 The activity is the preliminary of the CPSU and Philippine Red Cross’ “Resilient Together: Disaster Preparedness, Tree Planting, and CPR Training” initiative, which is a disaster risk reduction and climate resilience extension program.

 Cenphilian students, faculty, and staff, alongside Ph Red Cross Bacolod City Chapter and Kabankalan Branch’s personnel and volunteers, participated in the program, held last July 24, 2026, within the CPSU-Main Campus reserve area, in celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month.

 Through the tree planting activity, CPSU and the Philippine Red Cross support the rehabilitation of the local mountains through the intentional transplanting of native tree seedlings to achieve Sustainable Development Goals, providing more habitat for local flora and fauna species, fostering food security, and aiming for climate resilience.
