To empower students and local farmers from Central Philippines State Universityโ€™s (CPSU) assisted community within its reserve area with lifesaving and disaster-response skills, the Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter and Kabankalan Branch, in partnership with the university, conducted a CPSU and disaster-response training-workshop.

The training, titled โ€œResilient Together: Disaster Preparedness, Tree Planting, and CPR Training,โ€ was held in celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month on July 24, 2026, at the CPSU-Main Campus Covered Court.

The undertaking featured the RedSilient Caravan and the National CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Day Celebration, where participants were taught the fundamentals of disaster preparedness and the proper administration of CPR through interactive lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises during the training-workshop.

Through the training-workshop, the facilitating institutions aimed to advance community resilience and humanitarian service, and encourage volunteerism and active participation in disaster risk reduction and environmental protection initiatives.

As part of the activity, A Project โ€œHUKADโ€ or โ€œHunger Alleviation and University Kitchen Assistance for Disadvantaged Studentsโ€ feeding program sponsored by Philippine Red Cross-Bacolodโ€™s โ€œThankful Heart Shares: Project SUSTENAR or Sustainable and Unified Support for Targeted Emergency Nutritional Assistance and Response," which provided two hundred (200) nutritious meals to beneficiaries.

CPSU's Extension and Community Services Office (ECSO), College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), Natural Resources and Environmental Management Services (NREMS), and the CAF Federated Association (CAFFO) partnered with the Philippine Red Cross for the initiative.

The activity marked another milestone in the continuing partnership between CPSU and the Philippine Red Cross, reflecting their shared vision of building safer, healthier, and more resilient communities by integrating disaster preparedness, environmental stewardship, and humanitarian assistance into a single undertaking.
