The Department of Agrarian Reform โ€“ Negros Island Region (DAR-NIR) and Central Philippines State University (CPSU) formalized their partnership โ€œto provide financial, technical, administrative, and logistic support in empowering the future of agriculture in the establishment and operation of programs and projects.โ€

The signing of a memorandum of understanding, represented by DAR-NIR Regional Director Lucrecia S. Taberna and CPSU President Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, marked the beginning of the shared initiative, where CPSU is expected to provide necessary knowledge, technical skills, and appropriate technologies in the implementation of projects through trainings, workshops, coaching, and mentoring.

DAR-NIR Assistant Director Mr. Manuel A. Velasco, CESE, DAR-Regional Program Beneficiaries Development Division (RPBDD) Officer-in-Charge-Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Mr. Mark Anthony G. Caraig, and CPSU International Affairs and Linkages Office Director Dr. Joe-an Mae G. Escober witnessed the signing of the MOU.

CPSU aims to extend the multidisciplinary life-changing technologies it has to Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs)/ARC Clusters and Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and facilitate the transfer of agricultural technology, foster initiatives, and promote community empowerment.

The university also aims to improve agricultural yield and household incomes while enhancing the organizational and entrepreneurial capacities of farmers and capacitating the beneficiaries in engaging with other income-generating livelihood initiatives to revitalize local economies.

When asked what stakeholders can look forward to in this partnership, Doctor Escober expressed, โ€œCPSU stands with our agrarian reform beneficiaries. You can look forward to real change: science that works, training that empowers, and a future where your farms donโ€™t just survive but thrive. We will cultivate hope, harvest, and sustainable communities.โ€

Before the partnership was officially formed, there were discussions between the DAR-NIR and CPSU representatives about how to offer better and more useful services in the new region, and the signing of the MOU was the result of those talks.

Present in the event are the esteemed officials and distinguished faculty of Central Philippines State University namely, Professor VI Dr. Mary Ann S. Dagunan, Research and Development Services Office Director Dr. Angelie Rose L. Lumba, Extension and Community Services Office Director Dr. Jimmy O. Degillo, Natural Resources and Environment Management Services Office Director Mr. Gregorio D. Predo, Intellectual Property Management Office Director Ms. Marie Dame Earl S.
