The Excellence in Sustainability Award was given by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) to Central Philippines State University (CPSU)-Murcia Extension Class.

CPSU-Murcia excelled among seventy-eight (78) participating schools in the National Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools (NSSEFS), affirming the extension class’s commitment to the pillars of Sustainability in Education, Environmental Conservation, and Service to the Community. CPSU-Murcia Extension Class Coordinator and CPSU-International Affairs and Linkages Office Director, Dr. Joe-an Mae G. Escober, received the award in the awarding ceremony at the Seda Vertis North Hotel, Quezon City, on April 22, 2026.

In her personal Facebook post, Doctor Escober expressed, “This recognition is not mine alone. This is for my students whose passion for learning and service continues to inspire us every day.  This is for my faculty and staff whose unwavering dedication, creativity, and love for work made every program possible. This is for our parents and partner communities whose trust and collaboration fueled our mission. As I receive this award, my only wish is that I could have every CPSU Murcia student, teacher, and staff member here on stage with me. Every project you led, every lesson you shared, every seed of change you planted. This is your harvest!”

As the extension class officially concludes its service and as the university closes a chapter in the university’s history in the 2nd and last Commencement Exercises of CPS-Murcia, it leaves a legacy in the role of higher education institutions' roles in promoting shared development and in championing sustainability in the Philippines.
