Claiming the 548th rank worldwide, 22nd in the Philippines, and 1st within Region 18 – Negros Island Region (NIR), Central Philippines State University (CPSU) once again cements its name among the world’s greenest universities at the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025.

CPSU achieved this international feat in the 16th edition of the world rankings, which evaluated 1,745 institutions across 105 countries that showcased their best practices in implementing sustainable and environment-friendly programs.

The university’s success stems from its effective implementation of new sustainable innovations and the refurbishment of existing grassroots-oriented, output-based green practices.

The 16th edition of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings featured the theme: “Doing Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: The Story of Our Institution and Society.”

According to its official website, the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is an international ranking on green campuses and environmental sustainability, initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010.

In its official page, CPSU International Affairs and Linkages Office (CPSU-IALO), the rankings call the attention of university leaders and stakeholders to propel greater focus on initiatives directed on global climate change, clean energy, water conservation, waste recycling, green transportation, and sustainability education and research which require bolstered awareness and adapted reforms from various sectors.

The successful UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025 campaign was championed by University President Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, together with CPSU-IALO Director Dr. Joe-an Mae G. Escober, Intellectual Property Management Office Director Ms. Marie Dame Earl E. Waldato, and the Cenphilian technical working team.
