Sep 09, 2025 | News

The 1st International Peace Education Seminar was co-hosted by Central Philippines State University (CPSU) College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) with the Urdaneta City University (UCU) to respond to the growing need for global peace-building initiatives.

In collaboration with the Global Peace Foundation, the event was conducted through hybrid modalities—held physically at the UCU gymnasium and virtually via Zoom videoconference for Cenphilian audiences—on September 8, 2025, and featured the theme “Promoting Global Citizenship and Sustainable Peace among NSTP Students.”

Dr. Pilipinas Ma. D. Jareño, Director of the Curriculum Planning and Development Office and former Dean of the Office of Student Services and Affairs, joined the roster of distinguished resource speakers from various organizations and institutions, including the Plenary Speaker, Mr. Ingil Ra, the Regional Representative of the Global Peace Foundation – Asia-Pacific.

Along with Doctor Jareño and Mr. Ra, other notable speakers were Dr. Phil Idhamsyah Eka Putra, Persada Indonesia Faculty; Mr. Joshua C. Brown, Peace Corps Volunteer Leader; and Ms. Anne Nicole T. Tengson, Peace Corps Volunteer Leader.

CPSU’s National Service Training Program (NSTP) students from the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), and Literacy Training Service (LTS) components, along with CCJE students, interested personnel, and students from all university campuses, attended the webinar via Zoom and through a livestreamed feed at the Clemente Sports Complex.

The International Peace Education Seminar’s objective is “to deepen students’ understanding of peace education as a key component of civic responsibility,” and “by collaborating with national and international partners, the seminar seeks to create meaningful dialogue on peace-building, conflict resolution, and social cohesion.”

Under the leadership of CCJE Dean Mr. Elmer S. Manzanares, the college led CPSU in co-hosting the event, with support from Dr. Joe-an Mae G. Escober, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office.
