CPSU details best WURI practices as mentor-university at CHEDRO XVIII-NIR, CHEDRO VI, UNO-R-organized HEI capacity building workshop

Central Philippines State University (CPSU) expounds on its approaches on the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) as one of the mentor-universities at the “Strategic Capacity Building for Global University Rankings: Advancing WURI, THE, and QS Performance.”

 CPSU’s International Affairs and Linkages Director, Dr. Joe-an Mae G. Escober joined as the WURI Seminar-Workshop resource speaker in the two-day workshop, set on July 14-15, at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

 CPSU was selected as one of the mentor-universities actively cascading its strategies in packaging programs and projects to resonate and appeal with international ranking bodies in the capacity-building initiative hosted by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XVIII – Negros Island Region (CHEDRO XVIII-NIR), CHEDRO VI, and UNO-R.

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) including State University and College (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges, and Private Universities and Colleges across Siquijor, Negros Island Region and Western Visayas, convened to join the event with the shared objective of securing standings and visibility in CHED-recognized university rankings worldwide.

This unified effort responds to the challenge and vision of the ever-dynamic, CHEDRO XVIII-NIR Regional Director, Director IV Raul C. Alvarez, Jr, REE, EdD, CESO III.

CHED’s Dr. Danebeth G. Narzoles, OIC CEPS/IZN Focal Person, also delivered a message to the participating institutions, while other key speakers include Dr. Warlito S. Caturay Jr., Chief of the Silliman University Office of Media and Public Affairs; Dr. Anna May Zerrudo, Director of Quality Assurance at Central Philippine University; and Professor Sharlene G. Goticto, Associate QA Director, who discussed strategies related to QS Asia and THE Impact rankings respectively.

Further reflecting her leadership in internationalization, Dr. Escober is also currently installed as the Assistant Secretary of the Region XVIII-NIR International Relations Officers (IRO) Council, which was recently created during the “Activating Linkages: International Relations Officers Convergence” held on June 10, 2025, at Negros Oriental State University, Dumaguete City.
