Central Philippines State University (CPSU) and La Carlota City College (LCCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)โestablishing a partnership over future research and extension projects last January 31 at CPSU Main Campus.
CPSU President Dr. Aladino C. Moraca and LCCC President Dr. Larnie Sam A. Tabuena signed the Memorandum on behalf of CPSU and LCCC, respectivelyโwitnessed by LCCC Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Helen C. Donguines, CPSU President for Academic Affairs Dr. Fernando D. Abello, LCCC Research director Dr. Sharon L. Apohen, and CPSU Research director Dr. Angelie Rose L. Lumba.
Inspired by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and CPSU Board of Regents (BOR) Chairperson, Hon. Dr. J. Prospero โPopoyโ de Vera IIIโs challenge for State Universities to uplift and support neighboring Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Dr. Moraca, initiated the talks with LCCC.
โWe will share the technology that we have to enable replication, improving the lives of the people in La Carlota Cityโs community. By technology, I mean practical approaches to solving existing problems in the stakeholdersโ lives, hoisting the underprivileged by providing livelihood opportunities. I and the Research and Development Services Office aspire that CPSUโs practices will also be embraced by the said community, with the help of LCCC. I am looking forward to integrating both the technology and practices of LCCC which are beneficial for the improvement of our own,โ answered Dr. Moraca when asked about his motivations for signing the MOU.
The Memorandum of Understanding entails that LCCC is expected to collaborate with CPSU for research projects, to facilitate collaborative research, and to perform related tasks for research i.e. research paneling, seminars, orientations, and training; while CPSU is expected to support and collaborate with LCCC for present and future research works, and to provide assistance for research activities i.e. research paneling, seminars, orientations, and training.
โI perceive research as an integral part of growth and development, not only for an educational institution but also for the nation. The Research and Development Services Office is driven by the vision of having a greater positive impact not only on the lives of CPSUโs stakeholders but also on the lives of LCCCโs and our future partnersโ stakeholders,โ said Dr. Lumba.
VPAA Secretary Dr. Michael M. Bacolod, LCCC Graduate School Coordinator Dr. Ma. Quincy D. Does, and SUC President Executive Assistant Maโam Victoria P. Besana were also present at the event, actively supporting the partnership between the aforementioned HEIs.
